MONA_DENT is a computer aided planning and navigation system. It supports implantologists in realizing the 3D planning with the highest precision, directly on a non-fixated patient. The surgical procedure can be executed minimally invasive. Preferably with instantaneous prosthetic assistance.
The MONA_DENT system has been developed by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, dentists, designers, engineers and computer scientists with a specialty in navigation and 3D diagnosis. Medical guidance was provided by Prof. Dr. Dr. S. Haßfeld, University Witten/Herdecke.
New Standards for Quality and Safety
Navigation systems have long been established in neurosurgery and orthopedics. Such a system for dental implantology has been developed with MONA_DENT for the first time. It adapts perfectly to the oral work space using its components. MONA_DENT meets all requirements in regard to precision, functionality and safety at the highest technical level for applications in the area of implantology.
Maximum Intra-Operative Flexibility
An infrared measuring system records the operation environment. The systems automatically recognises the position, angle and the depth of the drill and compares this with the planned situation. Via a mini-monitor, the implantologist is guided to the exact implant position. The removal and deviation from the drill axis are depicted in the guidance monitor. At the same time, the depth reached by the drill is depicted on the right-hand side of the monitor during the operation. If the planned implant length is reached, an acoustic signal is played as well. To avoid injuries, the device also gives an acoustic warning 2 mm before marked, vulnerable structures, such as the canalis mandibularis or the maxillary antrum, are reached. The operator guidance is done fully intuitively and has already proven its practicability.
